UN Youth of Finland is looking for a new part-time association coordinator 

UN Youth of Finland is a national youth organization whose main mission is to work among Finland’s youth and students and inform about the activities and goals of the UN. We offer young people opportunities to increase their knowledge of topics related to the UN and, more broadly, global development issues, and to participate in international activities.

We are now looking for a temporary association coordinator to join us with 60% working time (22.5 hours per week) until 31 December 2024 (there might be a possibility to extend the contract after this if the funding decisions for 2025 permit it). The salary for the position is 1500e/month.

The tasks of the association coordinator at UN Youth include for example

  • Tasks related to the operation and administration of the association
  • Tasks assisting in the financial administration of the association
  • Tasks assisting in communications and training activities
  • Participation in event arrangements
  • Cooperation with member associations, UN actors and other partners
  • Participation in the development of financing and fundraising and campaign activities

In addition to this, the UN Youth Organization Coordinator acts as a coordinator for both the Finnish Youth, Peace and Security Network and the Nordic Coalition on Youth, Peace and Security. In this role, the coordinator, among other things

  • Supports the work of the network and the coalition members on the topic, e.g. in the field of communication, events and advocacy work
  • Handles practical arrangements such as convening meetings, room reservations, etc.
  • Handles responsibilities related to network and coalition’s funding, such as accounting and reporting

We hope you have:

  • Experience in international activities and UN expertise
  • Experience in general and financial administration, e.g. on the administration of grants
  • Strong IT skills
  • Teamwork and networking skills
  • Good written and oral skills in Finnish and English
  • Independent approach and flexibility
  • Education suitable for the job description

We also appreciate in particular

  • Knowledge or at least an interest in learning more deeply about the theme of Youth, peace and security
  • Experience in advocacy work
  • Knowledge of non-governmental organization activities and the Finnish organization field
  • Knowledge especially of the activities of the youth sector

Please note that we would like the association secretary to have the opportunity to at times also work evenings and weekends. The position also requires being present or willing to commute to Helsinki on a regular basis. We would like the new coordinator to start preferably on August 19, but no later than September 1.
